JaMaar Chase Continues to Break Records

The impact that Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase has had on the Ravens this season is unmatched by any player in NFL history.

After his 193-yard performance against the Ravens in Week Five, Chase had 264 receiving yards against them on Thursday night. With 457 receiving yards versus Baltimore so far this season, Chase has set an NFL record for receiving yards against a single opponent in a season.

In two games against the Houston Oilers in 1963, Art Powell of the Oakland Raiders set the previous record with 428 receiving yards. Powell, who passed away in 2015, was one of the best receivers in the American Football League but is mostly forgotten by modern NFL fans. (In its official records, the NFL acknowledges all AFL statistics.)

Chase shattered Powell's record yesterday night, which had held for 61 years. Powell's Raiders, however, defeated the Oilers in both games, in contrast to Chase's Bengals. Despite his Bengals' two losses this season, Chase created history against the Ravens.
