After acquiring Vanderbilt at the trade deadline, the Lakers admired his hustle and spirit. He provided the squad with tremendous defensive abilities and rebounding, something they urgently needed. Vanderbilt was just seen with LeBron James at the Louis Vuitton Fashion Show.
The two appeared to be having a wonderful time, and one has to wonder whether Vanderbilt knows what James is thinking about his possible retirement.
Vanderbilt was excellent for LA, averaging 7.2 points and 6.7 rebounds in restricted minutes. He was a staple in the rotation before being taken off the field owing to his shooting limitations. He hit 30.3 percent from three-point range and will need to improve that if he doesn't get pushed off the floor again this season.
With the new CBA agreement on the horizon, the Lakers may use all the inexpensive talent they can get. It makes perfect sense for the Lakers to bring back Vanderbilt.
LA must make a decision on Vanderbilt and the rest of their roster shortly.
