Matthew Lillard Is Back For ‘Scream 7’

In a surprising turn of events, Matthew Lillard is set to reprise his role as Stu Macher in the upcoming "Scream 7," nearly three decades after his character's presumed death in the original 1996 film. Lillard hinted at his return through an Instagram video, referencing a memorable quote from the first movie, which sent fans into a frenzy of speculation.

The film, directed by franchise creator Kevin Williamson, is scheduled for release on February 27, 2026. It boasts a mix of returning veterans and new faces. Neve Campbell will return as Sidney Prescott, and Courteney Cox will reprise her role as Gale Weathers. Scott Foley, who portrayed Roman Bridger in "Scream 3," is also set to return, raising questions about how these characters will be reintegrated into the narrative.

New additions to the cast include Joel McHale as Sidney Prescott's spouse, Mark Consuelos, Isabel May as Sidney's daughter, Celeste O'Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp. Notably, Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega will not return due to external controversies and scheduling conflicts.

The plot details for "Scream 7" remain under wraps, leaving fans eager to see how the story will unfold, especially with the unexpected return of characters long thought dead. The film aims to blend nostalgia with fresh talent, continuing the legacy of the iconic horror series.
