The second "Squid Game" installation has been an instant and huge success, as anticipated. With 68 million views in its first four days of release, Season 2 broke the record established by "Wednesday" in 2022 with 50.1 million views, more than any other Netflix series has ever had in its initial week of release.

Additionally, the season quickly rose to the seventh position on Netflix's list of its all-time top non-English TV shows, which is based on each series' first 91 days of viewing. With 265.2 views, Season 1 of "Squid Game" is now at the top of that list, but Season 2 has plenty of time to surpass that threshold.

This naturally made "Squid Game" Season 2 the most-watched show on Netflix during the week of December 23–29. Season 1 garnered increased interest as well, ranking as the week's third-ranked non-English TV series with 8.1 million views. "Carry-On," starring Taron Egerton, had 34.9 million views, making it the second most watched film of the week overall. "The Six Triple Eight," directed by Tyler Perry, came in second with 23.3 million views.

Netflix's two NFL games on Christmas Day topped the English-language TV chart. The Ravens vs. Texans game, which included Beyoncé's halftime performance, had 14.4 million views, while the Chiefs vs. Steelers game came in second with 14.3 million.
