DeMeco Ryans' first victory as the head coach of the Houston Texans seemed inevitable.

And that is precisely what occurred on Sunday at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville as rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud led the Texans to their first victory of the year with a 37-17 triumph over the Jaguars.

Houston got things going early when Stroud connected with fellow rookie Tank Dell for a 46-yard bomb down to the one-yard line. Dameon Pierce then scored to give the Texans the lead.

Stroud, on the other hand, concluded with his third straight strong effort, completing 20 of 30 throws for 280 yards and two touchdowns, one of which was a game-winning 68-yard score to Dell.

Dell put up a strong showing to end the day, catching five catches for 145 yards and a touchdown.

The Texans will try to capitalize on their victory by playing host to the Pittsburgh Steelers at NRG Stadium when they return home to Houston after the game.
